President of Ved Vihar Public School Educational Society, KS Shrikot, presented a cheque of Rs. 1, 54, 08,657 to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, towards the Mukhya Mantri Sukh Aashray Kosh. Besides, the Society also provided 110 benches, 16 wooden boxes, 34 armless chairs, 50 wooden chairs with writing arms, three musical instruments and a variety of educational books. Which include 85 grammar books, 53 art and drawing books, 25 math and science books, 24 computer technology books, 22 general knowledge books, 12 map masters books and six social studies books.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Ved Vihar Public School Educational Society for their generous contribution. He said that such acts of generosity inspire the affluent sections of society to contribute towards the welfare of those in actual need.
Sukhu reiterated the State Government’s commitment to support the underprivileged, ensuring they lead a dignified life. He said that Himachal Pradesh stands out as the first State in India to grant legal rights to over 6000 orphans, adopting them as ‘Children of the State.’ The Government assumes responsibility for their welfare, including educational expenses and provides Rs. 4000 per month as pocket money. Similarly, there is a proposal of providing three biswa of land to landless orphans along with financial assistance of Rs. 3 lakh for its construction, Rs. 2 lakh for startup projects and Rs. 2 lakh as marriage expenses.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Deputy Speaker of the H.P. Vidhan Sabha Vinay Kumar, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthy and Congress leader Satpal Raizada were also present on the occasion.
