Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Saturday reviewed the progress of the Vidhan Sabha flyover project being constructed under the Shimla Smart City Mission and directed officials to ensure its completion by December 2026.
During an inspection of the project site, the minister assessed the ongoing work and was informed that most of the construction has been completed. However, work on Pier-2 remains pending as its design is currently under examination by railway authorities, with efforts underway to obtain the required approval at the earliest.
Officials also informed the minister that fabrication of the flyover’s superstructure has been completed and the launching of the structure is expected to begin in July 2026.
Expressing the need for timely execution, Vikramaditya Singh instructed the contractor and concerned departments to accelerate the remaining work and strictly follow the approved construction schedule. He emphasized that all possible measures should be taken to meet the December 2026 completion target.
The minister said the Vidhan Sabha flyover is a major infrastructure project under the Shimla Smart City initiative and is expected to ease traffic congestion while enhancing connectivity in the city.
