In a major move to enhance healthcare delivery in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has issued appointment letters to 259 Assistant Staff Nurses who will be posted at government medical colleges, hospitals, and the Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialities (AIMSS), Chamiana, Shimla.
The appointments have been made following the recommendations of the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog, Hamirpur. The newly appointed nursing staff will be deployed at leading healthcare institutions, including Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla; Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda; Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan; Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur; Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Nerchowk; Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba; and AIMSS Chamiana.
The recruitment will significantly strengthen the healthcare workforce in the state, enhance patient care facilities, and improve the functioning of tertiary healthcare institutions. The addition of qualified nursing professionals will help address the increasing demand for quality medical services and ensure more efficient healthcare delivery to patients. Earlier, in June 2026, the state government had appointed 372 Assistant Staff Nurses in various government medical colleges across Himachal Pradesh.
CM Sukhu said that the government was committed to ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services for every citizen. He emphasized that strengthening the healthcare system remained a key priority and that continuous efforts were being made to provide medical institutions with adequate infrastructure and skilled manpower.
TheCM stated that the appointment of Assistant Staff Nurses marked another significant step towards improving healthcare services in the state. He added that the government would continue the process of filling vacant positions in the health sector and take necessary measures to ensure that hospitals and medical colleges remain adequately staffed for providing effective, patient-focused healthcare services.
