2nd Monsoon Cup; 16 teams; Over 200 footballers to Participate

After the successful completion of its Monsoon Cup 2015, Shimla District Football Association is organising an open category football the 2nd Monsoon Cup tournament will be organised at Bishop Cotton School from 3rd to 5th August, 2016 as 16 teams from all over Shimla district will take part in this competition as over 200 footballers would get an opportunity to showcase their skills.  During the course over 60 matches will be held between the competing teams.

Football.2.8.16aThe tournament saw a new and fresh team taking the crown last year, and a bundle of teams competing furiously to take the first DFA Shimla Monsoon Cup. With the success of last year’s Monsoon Cup, its popularity among grass root footballers across the district has established itself as the largest football talent scouting programme. In its second year, SDFA has made a difference by engaging nearly 16 teams and 256 budding footballers.

FTBall logoSpeaking on the occasion, Prithvi Vikram Sen, President, SDFA said “Continuing its efforts in grassroots and youth football development SDFA is committed to create opportunities for players to showcase their sporting talent and also nourish and nurture the promising players.”

The participants for this year’s Monsoon Cup are hosts Bishop Cotton School, St. Edwards School, Shimla All Stars, Junga Sports Association, Highlanders, Summerhill United Football Club (Team A & Team B), Barca United (Rohru), Black Pearls (Rampur), Hainault Public School, Magicians FC, AG Office, A Stars (APG University), APG SAARC (APG University), Central School for Tibetans and Boileauganj Football Club.

The event is being sponsored by PK Constructions, 31 Parallel, Dyerton Biz Hub, Connexions Arcade, Chalets Naldehra, Akash Jewellers and Biz Buzz Communications.
