The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) organized a vibrant cultural evening on 17th October 2024 as part of its week-long celebrations for the 59th Foundation Day. The event took place at the Institute’s Pool Theatre, with enthusiastic participation from the institute’s officers, staff members, and associates.
The program commenced with a Saraswati Vandana, presented by Mrs. Vandana. This was followed by various colorful performances, including Lavani Dance, Fancy Dress Competition by kids, Folk Songs, Bhangra, Gidda, and Himachali Nati.
The standout performances of the evening were a Lavani dance by Mrs. Rajni, a Bhangra dance by Mr. Sanyam Singh, and a Himachali Nati performed by the institute’s staff members. Additionally, Mr. Devendra Singh, Mr. Kesar Singh, Mr. Deepak Sharma, and Mr. Rajesh Kumar gave soulful renditions of songs, bhajans, and poetry, further enlivening the event.
A special short play based on the character of Ashwatthama was staged by Mr. Ashwani Sharma, captivating the audience. The entire program was expertly hosted by Public Relations Officer Mr. Akhilesh Pathak, who encouraged the participants throughout the event.
On the following day, 18th October, the Institute, in collaboration with IGMC Blood Bank, Shimla, organized a special blood donation camp. The camp saw active participation from officers, employees, scholars, their families, and other contributors from the Institute. Led by Dr. Siddharth and the team from IGMC Blood Bank, the camp successfully collected 62 units of blood.
The aim of the camp was to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and to help those in need. The week-long celebrations will culminate on 20th October 2024 with a formal program at the Pool Theatre, featuring additional cultural activities.
