At a high-level joint review of all Science Ministries, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the strategic role of India’s BioE3 Policy—Biotechnology for Economy, Environment & Employment—in driving sustainable biomanufacturing and innovation. Aligned with Vision 2047, the policy has already attracted over 2,000 proposals under its first DBT-BIRAC call, with 40% led by startups in areas like carbon capture, smart proteins, and climate-resilient agriculture.

The meeting reviewed cross-sectoral initiatives, including the MoolankurBioEnabler Network of bio-AI hubs and proposals for 100 post-doctoral fellowships to bring Indian scientists back home. Dr. Singh also discussed progress on nuclear plant site assessments in Bihar, a GSLV Mk-3 payload upgrade, and preparations for National Space Day, where 300+ space startups will showcase innovations.

He stressed the need for unified scientific vision across ministries, urging alignment through the Principal Scientific Adviser. “We are laying the foundation of India’s scientific leadership for decades to come,” he stated.

The review was attended by senior science leaders from DST, DBT, ISRO, Atomic Energy, and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser.
