St. Thomas’ School, Shimla, came alive with excitement and school spirit as students from Classes III to V participated in a vibrant Junior Sports Day celebration. The event was graced by Reverend Dr. Vinita Roy, Pastor of Christ Church, Shimla, who attended as the Chief Guest.
The programme began with a soulful prayer song, followed by an energetic and colourful musical drill by all four school houses — Shipkila, Toshqui, Kasturi, and Chinar — setting an enthusiastic tone for the day.
A range of sporting events kept the audience cheering, including flat race, sack race, three-leg race, obstacle race, hurdle race, taekwondo, and team games like tug of war and mass PT. Traditional Indian fitness routines like lezim and dumbbell PT added a cultural touch. Parents also participated enthusiastically in musical chairs and balancing the books, creating a joyous family atmosphere.
The event’s highlights included:
-
Toshqui House winning the Tug of War
-
Kasturi House excelling in the March Past
-
Individual wins by students like Arman, Parushi, Ravi, Mrinal, Arun, Manya, Hanspriya, and Manan
Principal Vidhupriya Chakravarty addressed the gathering, emphasizing how such events build discipline, fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork in young minds.
Chief Guest Rev. Dr. Vinita Roy praised the school for encouraging students to not only display their athletic abilities but also imbibe life skills like confidence, perseverance, and collaboration.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Vice Principal Sharon Nanda, who acknowledged the efforts of staff, students, and parents in making the event a grand success.
