Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has reaffirmed the state government’s strong commitment to providing modern and accessible healthcare facilities across Himachal Pradesh. He stated that the government is working on a mission mode to build a robust health infrastructure, integrating both technology and manpower to meet the healthcare needs of the people.
The Chief Minister highlighted key initiatives under the state’s healthcare reform strategy, including:

Establishment of PGI Satellite Centre in Una

Upgradation of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla with advanced medical equipment

Expansion of the Himcare Scheme to cover more beneficiaries

Adoption of digital health systems to enhance the efficiency of primary healthcare delivery
He said that robotic surgery facilities have already been made available at the Atal Super Specialty Institute, Chamiana, and Tanda Medical College, and will be gradually introduced in other medical institutions across the state.
The Chief Minister further added that the state government is working on integrating digital health information systems from sub-centres to state-level institutions to bring efficiency, transparency, and real-time data-driven healthcare solutions.
To address human resource gaps, the government has approved:

Recruitment of 200 Medical Officers

38 Assistant Professors in super-specialty departments

400 Staff Nurses as job trainees
The government has also enhanced the remuneration of essential technical personnel like radiographers and X-ray technicians, ensuring better morale and service delivery.
“Our aim is to provide world-class healthcare facilities even in the remotest areas of Himachal Pradesh,” said CM Sukhu, emphasizing that these efforts will improve access to specialized and digital healthcare services for every citizen.
