CM Sukhu announced that the Public Works Department (PWD) has compiled a comprehensive Compendium of Acts, Rules, Guidelines, and Norms spanning the past five decades. This compilation aims to make all departmental information easily accessible to the general public through a single-window system.

The Chief Minister said the initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency within the department. It will serve as a valuable reference for government officials, contractors, and executing agencies, while also helping curb malpractices and ensuring procedural compliance.

He added that citizens will no longer need to visit multiple government offices for essential information related to PWD works. The compendium encompasses all verticals of the department — including civil, electrical, mechanical, and architectural wings — and also covers financial aspects.

Highlighting the importance of the move, CM Sukhu emphasized that the codification of laws and regulations aligns with the government’s focus on digitization, transparency, and improved public service delivery.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said the State Government has consolidated various rules and norms concerning road construction, safety, and development, aiming to ensure safer and more convenient transport facilities for the public.

In a communiqué issued on Saturday evening, Secretary PWD Dr. Abhishek Jain stated that the compendium will also benefit departmental officials by enabling more efficient and skillful execution of public service schemes. It will serve as a one-stop reference for all information related to PWD’s functioning and regulations.
