Gokul Butail, Principal Advisor (Innovation, Digital Technology and Governance) to the Chief Minister, highlighted the state government’s commitment to making public services more accessible and citizen-friendly through innovation and digital technology. Addressing the 62nd Sood Milan Diwas organized by the Sood Sabha in Chandigarh, he emphasized that residents can now access a wide range of government services online, often completing essential tasks from home with just a click.

Butail praised the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, noting the government’s continuous efforts to streamline services and improve governance through technology-driven solutions. He also commended the Sood Sabha, established in 1959, for its longstanding social service initiatives, including financial aid to the needy and widows, educational support to students, and medical assistance to patients.

Highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s digital initiatives, Butail cited examples such as online issuance of learner driving licenses, reducing repeated visits to government offices. He also pointed out the state’s pioneering paperless registration system, My Deed, which allows citizens to access multiple services with a single click, making Himachal the first state in India to implement such a system.

On the occasion, Butail announced a contribution of Rs. 1 lakh to the Sood Sabha, Chandigarh. Reflecting on his family’s legacy in social service, he recalled that his grandfather, late Kanhaiya Lal Butail, established the first women’s charitable college in Himachal Pradesh at Palampur in 1962.
