Today, 15 December is observed as International Tea Day, celebrating the cultural, economic, and social significance of tea while recognizing the contributions of tea growers and workers and promoting sustainable practices and fair trade. Alongside this global observance, Himachal Pradesh marks the day for state-level anti-drug awareness initiatives, organizing simultaneous meetings of Drug De-addiction Committees across 234 highly affected Panchayats to strengthen grassroots participation, engage local communities, and implement preventive strategies against drug abuse, with a special focus on youth involvement, monitoring mechanisms, and coordinated efforts by police, health, and education departments to curb drug trafficking and promote community well-being.
