Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Tuesday said that the state government has provided 419 appointments on compassionate grounds in the Jal Shakti Vibhag, offering relief and security to families of deceased employees.
Detailing the appointments, the Deputy Chief Minister informed that 100 Class-III Junior Office Assistant (IT) posts and 319 Multi-Task Worker (MTW) posts have been filled. He added that appointment letters have been issued to the Engineers-in-Chief by the Secretary, Jal Shakti Department in this regard.
Mukesh Agnihotri expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for taking the decision, stating that it provides immediate relief and long-term security to families who faced unexpected hardships after the loss of their breadwinners. He emphasized that these appointments reflect the state government’s “humanity-first” approach, ensuring dignified livelihood opportunities for the dependents of employees who served the state.
The Deputy Chief Minister said this initiative is part of the Chief Minister’s broader vision to clear the backlog of compassionate appointment cases that had remained pending for years under the previous BJP regime. He asserted that the present government is committed to delivering justice to families who had been waiting for rightful support for a long time.
Highlighting further steps taken by the government, Agnihotri said that as a New Year gift, several appointments were made across departments on January 1, including 127 posts in the Education Department, 74 in the Home Department, and one in the Prosecution Department.
Reiterating the government’s resolve, the Deputy Chief Minister said the vision extends beyond employment alone. “It is our duty to honour the services of former employees by safeguarding the future of their families,” he said.
