DDBL Trust Hosts 97th Ghee Khichdi Bhandara in Shimla

The Durga Devi Bihari Lal Birochan Lal Charitable Trust (DDBL), Shimla, successfully hosted the 97th edition of its revered Ghee Khichdi Bhandara at Tatapani, on the banks of the River Sutlej in Mandi district. The sacred event saw enthusiastic participation from devotees and the local community, serving ghee khichdi to approximately 3,000 attendees with devotion and warmth.

In conjunction with the bhandara, the Trust organized a free Ayurvedic health check-up and medical camp in collaboration with Arogya Bharti. Around 100 patients received consultations and medicines at no cost, highlighting the Trust’s commitment to holistic community welfare and public health.

The Ghee Khichdi Bhandara, a family tradition spanning three generations, continues to bring spiritual joy and satisfaction to both the organising family and the thousands of devotees who participate each year.

Speaking at the occasion, Ramesh Chand Sood, Chairman of the Trust, expressed gratitude for the 97th consecutive celebration. He emphasized that the Trust remains devoted to expanding charitable initiatives in education, healthcare, and support for the underprivileged, encouraging deserving individuals to reach out for assistance.

As part of its humanitarian efforts, the Trust also distributed blankets to the needy in partnership with the Indian Red Cross Society Himachal Pradesh, reflecting a continued focus on community welfare during the winter season.

Prominent members and well-wishers present at the event included Rohitash Kuthiala, Narender Sood, Mohit Sood, Kimi Sood, Dr. K. D. Sharma, and Dr. Anil Mehta.

The event showcased the power of faith-driven service, community participation, and sustained philanthropy, strengthening the spirit of compassion and collective well-being in the region.
