Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi invited global investors to partner with India in its rapidly expanding clean energy sector during the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos. He emphasized that the global energy transition must focus on building resilient, scalable, and investment-ready infrastructure.

Addressing the session Resilient Infrastructure for Growth, the Minister highlighted that India has successfully combined scale with system resilience. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has achieved 267 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity as of December 2025 and is on track to meet its 2030 targets. He noted that this progress is driven by strong policy frameworks, domestic manufacturing, grid modernisation, energy storage solutions, and emerging initiatives in geothermal and nuclear energy.

Delivering the keynote address at the roundtable “Delivering Sustainability at Scale: Pathways for Global Transformation”, Joshi stated that sustainability has become a central driver of economic growth, competitiveness, and resilience. He stressed that the challenge before the world is to deliver sustainability at scale, at speed, and in an economically strengthening manner.

Reiterating India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, the Minister said India’s energy transition is guided by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — One Earth, One Family, One Future. He emphasized that India views sustainability as a strategic economic transformation rather than merely a technological shift.

On the sidelines of WEF, Joshi held several bilateral meetings with ministers and global investors to strengthen clean energy cooperation. He engaged with representatives from Oman, Belgium, Kuwait, and leading global investment groups including La Caisse and Ingka Group (IKEA), encouraging increased investment in solar, wind, green hydrogen, and energy storage projects in India.

The Union Minister also attended the inauguration of the India Pavilion at WEF 2026, where he launched a Green Investment Handbook titled ‘The India Story’, showcasing India as a reliable, competitive, and future-ready destination for global clean energy investments.
