Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended warm greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of the state’s 56th Statehood Day, marking the historic milestone with messages of pride, reflection, and future vision.

Congratulating the citizens, Governor Shukla reiterated his call for a drug-free Himachal Pradesh. Emphasizing his ongoing advocacy, he urged the youth to stay away from intoxicants and actively contribute to building a healthy and responsible society. The Governor praised Himachal Pradesh, revered as “Devbhoomi,” for its rich cultural heritage and traditions, and called upon the people to uphold the values of harmony, hard work, and unity that define the state’s unique identity.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, in his message, described the Statehood Day as a reminder of Himachal Pradesh’s remarkable journey and the collective resilience of its people. He paid rich tributes to the visionary leaders who played a crucial role in the formation of the state, particularly remembering Dr. Y.S. Parmar, the “Architect of Himachal,” along with other prominent personalities whose foresight shaped the state’s socio-economic and political foundation.

The Chief Minister also expressed deep gratitude to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her historic contribution. Recalling January 25, 1971, he noted that despite heavy snowfall at Shimla’s Ridge Ground, she announced full statehood for Himachal Pradesh—an event that marked the beginning of a new era of self-governance and development.

Looking ahead, Chief Minister Sukhu said the state government is pursuing a mission-driven approach to transform Himachal Pradesh’s economic landscape. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to making the state self-reliant and outlined a long-term vision to develop Himachal Pradesh into the most prosperous state in the country.

Concluding his message, the Chief Minister urged citizens to draw inspiration from the state’s glorious past and actively participate in building a “Green and Prosperous Himachal,” expressing confidence that with public cooperation and proactive policies, the state will continue to achieve new heights of excellence.
