Kewal Singh Pathania, MLA from Shahpur and Deputy Chief Whip, stated that the Himachal Pradesh government is actively promoting women’s empowerment through a range of initiatives and schemes, enabling women to participate equally alongside men.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Youth Theatre Festival 2026, held under the “Umdte 100 Crore Abhiyan” and organized by Jagori Sanstha in Chambi, Rait, Pathania praised the organization for its dedicated grassroots work and continuous efforts to fight against women’s oppression.
He also voiced concern over the weakening sense of community cooperation and brotherhood in villages, urging collective action to rebuild social harmony. Pathania congratulated the organizers and assured them of the government’s full support.
Jagori coordinator Manisha noted that this year’s festival theme, “From Body to Earth, Our Body, Our Earth,” is being promoted nationwide through theatre, music, and song.
The festival featured participation from women across Kangra district as well as students from local schools and colleges. Cultural performances and an exhibition showcasing handmade products by women’s groups were among the key attractions. Participants were recognized with certificates for their involvement.
The event was attended by several officials and prominent citizens, adding to the vibrant, community-centered atmosphere of the festival.
