The Ministry of Education organised a special session titled “Pushing the Frontier of AI in India” at Bharat Mandapam as part of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, highlighting India’s growing leadership in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan described the Summit as a visionary initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at accelerating AI growth in the country. He said AI will play a transformative role in positioning India as a global knowledge superpower and is central to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Minister of State for Education & Skill Development Jayant Chaudhary noted that discussions focused on structured AI integration across foundational learning, skilling, research, and innovation. He also visited the Ministry’s pavilion showcasing scalable, India-first AI solutions.
Senior officials, academic leaders, startup founders, and industry experts participated in the session, including representatives from leading IITs and the investment ecosystem. The discussion emphasized governance frameworks, indigenous AI innovation, teacher training, curriculum integration, and responsible deployment of advanced AI models.
The Ministry highlighted key initiatives such as the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in AI for Education at IIT Madras and continued collaboration between academia, industry, and government to implement AI at scale.
The session underscored India’s shift from policy vision to large-scale implementation, aiming to strengthen the national roadmap for AI in education and foster deeper industry–academia–government partnerships.
