A delegation of eminent academicians today met Governor Kavinder Gupta at Lok Bhawan, Shimla, engaging in an extensive discussion on higher education, academic excellence, and institutional development in the region.
The delegation included notable educationists such as Dr. Pardeep Singh Walia, Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Agrasen University, Dr. Ashwani Kumar Bhalla, Principal of Government College Gurdaspur, and Dr. Raj Kumar Singh of Himachal Pradesh University.
During the meeting, the academicians shared updates on ongoing initiatives at their institutions and sought guidance on enhancing research ecosystems, academic outreach, and overall institutional growth.
Governor Gupta emphasized the importance of improving the quality of higher education in Himachal Pradesh through stronger collaboration between industry and academia. He called for research-oriented learning, entrepreneurship promotion, and holistic development of students.
He urged universities to move beyond traditional curricula and evolve into hubs of innovation, skill development, and nation-building. Highlighting the need for practical training, internships, and vocational integration, the Governor stressed equipping students with industry-relevant skills to enhance employability.
