IIT Roorkee Hosts Major Vision 2047 Conference

Governor Kavinder Gupta on Friday inaugurated the international conference titled “Vision 2047: Prosperous and Great Bharat 2.0” at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. The event was organized in collaboration with Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted India’s rapid growth trajectory and stressed the need for integrated policies, innovation, and institutional collaboration to achieve the goal of a prosperous and self-reliant nation by 2047.

During his campus visit, he toured the Electric Vehicle Laboratory at IIT Roorkee, reviewing advanced research and technologies related to sustainable mobility. He lauded the efforts of researchers and students working in the field of environmentally friendly transport solutions.

The Governor was also presented with an “Accessible Mobility Vehicle for Divyangjan,” developed by Yali Mobility in collaboration with AARTI Foundation, the Ministry of Heavy Industries, and the International Centre for Automotive Technology. Appreciating the initiative, he said such innovations promote accessibility, sustainability, and social inclusion.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J. P. Nadda addressed the conference virtually, while Union Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh also delivered a virtual address.

Earlier, IIT Roorkee Director K. K. Pant welcomed the Governor and emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia, government, and industry. Executive Chairperson of the conference Somnath Sachdeva outlined the theme, focusing on innovation, policy reforms, and sustainable development.

The conference saw participation from over 100 institutions from India and abroad, deliberating on key areas such as inclusive growth, technological advancement, employment generation, and sustainability as part of the Vision 2047 roadmap.
