In a decisive step to ensure peaceful, free and fair Municipal Corporation Elections 2026 and Panchayati Raj Elections 2026, the District Administration Kangra has imposed a complete ban on the carrying of firearms and other lethal weapons across the district.

District Magistrate Hemraj Bairwa, exercising powers under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, has ordered that no individual, except personnel of law enforcement agencies, will be allowed to carry any kind of weapon within district limits.

The administration has further directed all licensed arms holders to immediately deposit their weapons at the nearest police station or with authorised arms dealers.

The order has come into immediate effect and will remain in force until the declaration of results of the Panchayati Raj elections. The move aims to strengthen law and order and ensure a safe, peaceful and fair electoral process.
