International Jazz Day, celebrated every year on April 30, is a global event established by UNESCO in 2011 to recognize the power of jazz music in promoting peace, cultural dialogue, and unity. Championed by renowned jazz musician Herbie Hancock, the day highlights jazz as more than just a musical genre—it is a symbol of freedom, creativity, and collaboration that transcends borders. Originating in the United States, jazz blends diverse cultural influences and has grown into a universal language that connects people worldwide. The day is marked by concerts, educational activities, and global performances, celebrating jazz’s role in fostering mutual understanding and bringing communities together.
