CM Sukhu on Sunday expressed gratitude to the people of Himachal Pradesh for extending strong support to the Congress party in the urban local body elections, stating that the results reflect public confidence in the state government’s policies and welfare initiatives.
Congratulating party workers and supporters on the party’s performance, the Chief Minister said Congress-backed candidates secured victory in 32 out of 47 municipal bodies across the state. He described the outcome as a clear endorsement of the government’s development-oriented governance and welfare programmes.
Sukhu said the overwhelming support received by Congress-supported candidates in all districts of the state has further strengthened the government’s resolve to work with greater commitment and responsibility. He assured that the state government would continue implementing public welfare schemes effectively to ensure benefits reach every section of society.
Highlighting the Congress government’s priorities, the Chief Minister said the party believes in inclusive growth, equality and balanced development. He alleged that the BJP follows divisive politics based on religion and caste, whereas Congress remains focused on welfare-driven governance.
The Chief Minister claimed that the government has fulfilled the promises made during the 2022 Assembly elections and has delivered beyond its guarantees. He said several initiatives have been launched for the welfare of women, labourers and weaker sections, while major reforms in education and healthcare have started showing positive results.
Sukhu also highlighted steps taken to strengthen the rural economy, including a significant hike in milk support prices and procurement support for naturally grown maize, wheat, barley, raw turmeric and ginger. He said the state government has constituted a ‘Kisaan Aayog’ and fulfilled the long-pending demand of apple growers by introducing the Universal Carton system.
He added that these measures have helped safeguard the interests of farmers and horticulturists while giving a boost to the rural economy in the state.
