The Himachal Pradesh Government has released Rs 212 crore towards medical reimbursement claims up to June 27 in the current financial year (2026-27), aiming to clear pending dues of government employees and pensioners.

Of the total amount, Rs 131.03 crore has been sanctioned for pensioners and Rs 80.97 crore for serving employees. The Finance Department released the funds on the directions of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to expedite the settlement of pending claims.

The government said it is clearing long-pending financial liabilities in a phased manner while prioritising the welfare of employees and pensioners. It also announced the release of pending pension arrears for eligible retired and deceased Class IV employees’ families, besides ensuring payment of revised pension arrears to pensioners and family pensioners who retired before January 1, 2016.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the previous BJP government, despite receiving around Rs 60,000 crore in additional Central assistance under the Revenue Deficit Grant and GST compensation, failed to clear Sixth Pay Commission arrears and other dues on time.

He said the present Congress government restored the Old Pension Scheme after assuming office and is now releasing pending financial benefits as the state’s financial position improves. He added that the “Vyavastha Parivartan” initiative aims to strengthen both the economy and public confidence in governance.
