CM Sukhu on Thursday visited disaster-affected areas of Chamba district to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and landslides during the ongoing monsoon season. He inspected the affected sites and interacted with local residents to hear their concerns and assess the situation on the ground.

The Chief Minister visited Sheetla bridge and Rana Mohalla in Sultanpur, where extensive damage has been reported due to the monsoon. He met affected families, assured them of all possible government support and directed officials to restore essential services at the earliest. He also instructed authorities to prioritise repairs of damaged roads and infrastructure.

Sukhu said Chamba had faced significant losses during the previous monsoon as well, and the district had again suffered damage this year. He reiterated that the state government was standing with affected families and taking all necessary steps for relief, rehabilitation and restoration work.

Later, the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing construction work of the Sultanpur heliport, being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore. He said the facility would strengthen connectivity, support tourism and accelerate development activities in Chamba.

Sukhu said efforts were underway to begin helicopter services in Chamba by the end of this year or early next year. The facility is expected to provide better air connectivity and open new opportunities for tourism and economic growth in the district.
