Himachal Pradesh paid heartfelt homage to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary today, with CM Sukhu and Governor Kavinder Gupta recalling his enduring legacy and deep-rooted connection with the hill state.
At a ceremony held on Shimla’s historic Ridge, Chief Minister Sukhu offered floral tributes to the late leader. Highlighting Vajpayee’s rare political grace, the Chief Minister remarked that he possessed a unique ability to unite people across political divides—a trait increasingly rare in modern politics. He fondly recalled Vajpayee’s deep personal bond with Himachal, noting his routine holiday retreats to his home in Prini, near Manali. The ceremony was marked by patriotic songs and devotional bhajans performed by artists from the Information and Public Relations Department.
Simultaneously, Governor Kavinder Gupta paid solemn tributes at Lok Bhavan, remembering Vajpayee as an exemplary parliamentarian, statesman, and principled leader. The Governor emphasized that Vajpayee’s unwavering commitment to clean politics, honesty, and good governance continues to serve as a beacon for the nation’s vision of a Viksit Bharat.
