At the 5th e-FAST India Summit 2026, NITI Aayog Member Rajiv Gauba unveiled the Platform for Aggregating Clean Transport (PACT) to accelerate the rollout of zero-emission trucks nationwide. The event brought together key government and industry leaders, including MoRTH Secretary V. Umashankar and MHI Additional Secretary Dr. Hanif Qureshi, to address commercial, financial, and operational barriers in freight electrification.
PACT serves as a centralized demand-aggregation tool connecting shippers, logistics providers, vehicle manufacturers, financiers, and charging operators. By clustering freight demand along targeted key corridors, the platform aims to optimize charging network planning and lower total cost of ownership for electric medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (e-MHDVs). The summit highlighted rapid industry momentum, noting that e-freight vehicle deployments expanded fourfold over the past fiscal year, bringing the total number of active electric trucks in India to over 3,000.
In tandem with PACT, NITI Aayog introduced the ZET Marketplace—a business-to-business platform designed to connect e-truck makers, charge point operators, and commercial lenders. Official remarks stressed that transitioning from early pilot projects to mass commercial scale will depend on corridor-based charging networks, battery health monitoring, and novel risk-sharing financing models to ensure long-term energy security and logistics efficiency.
