At a ceremony held at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Governor and Chancellor Kavinder Gupta launched a 100-Day Roadmap for Youth Development to advance the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’. Formulated through the Chancellor’s Inter-university Viksit Bharat Task Force, the action plan focuses on fostering innovation, enhancing practical skills, and generating sustainable rural livelihoods across Himachal Pradesh. The Governor stressed that youth must be encouraged to transition from job seekers to job creators by linking academic learning with real-world economic opportunities in horticulture, forestry, and allied industries.
The roadmap outlines hands-on training programs in areas such as orchard management, tissue culture, mushroom farming, beekeeping, and value addition, along with industry internships and business development support for rural youth, women, SHGs, and FPOs. Commending Vice Chancellor Prof. Harminder Singh Baweja and the university faculty, the Governor expressed confidence in the initiative’s long-term success. Prof. Baweja assured that a dedicated team will closely monitor and execute the plan to ensure tangible outcomes for students and the local agricultural sector.
