The historic Dhalpur Ground in Kullu transformed into a vibrant sea of faith and color today as Governor Kavinder Gupta formally inaugurated the week-long International Kullu Dussehra Festival. Accompanied by Lady Governor Bindu Gupta, the Governor witnessed the grand commencement marked by the traditional Rath Yatra of Lord Raghunath Ji, joined by an awe-inspiring congregation of over 347 local deities from across the Kullu Valley.
Extending his warm greetings, the Governor highlighted that the festival is far more than a religious celebration—it is a living, breathing expression of Himachal Pradesh’s rich Dev Sanskriti, folk traditions, and deep-rooted social harmony. Emphasizing the timeless teachings of Vijayadashami, he noted that the life of Lord Ram continues to inspire society to walk the path of truth, duty, justice, and righteousness, while offering invaluable guidance to future generations.
Addressing the large gathering, the Governor issued a strong call to action against social evils such as drug abuse, violence, and corruption, urging citizens to champion national unity under the ethos of “Nation First.” He also invited the youth to actively contribute toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 by embracing innovation, acquiring new skills, and safeguarding the state’s pristine natural assets, including its mountains, forests, and rivers.
Beyond its spiritual grandeur, the Governor underscored the festival’s role as a major global showcase for Himachal’s cultural heritage, tourism, local handicrafts, and entrepreneurship. Following the inauguration, he explored various exhibitions set up by government departments and NGOs, offering prayers to Lord Raghunath Ji for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the state and the nation.
