orchid.14.8.15insideTiny tots from Orchid Prep School and Orchid Shining Stars, New Shimla were sweetly dressed in patriotic colours of our Indian flag as they warmly greeted and hugged the Rtd. Air Commander Ravi Krishan and his better half who presided over the function as the chief guest during the 69th Independence Day celebrations in the school premises. It was pure innocence, joy and happiness all around as the children gathered around the Commander, talking to him and playfully engaging him in their little games. School Principal Neelan Vij, accompanied by the Chairman Ajay Vij and her supportive staff, greeted the guests and enlightened on the significance of the day to the children. She said that the children were taught about why this day holds such importance and how they coloured the Indian flag and won prizes.

The morning began with the students of Arushi Shining Stars — Piyush, Arushi, Palak, Neha, Sahinoor, Zulfikar, Hitesh, Pratul, Divyagyan and Ashu — as they sung the song ‘Saare Jahan Say Accha’. Saanvi and Raunak recited a sweet poem about the Independence Day and received a huge round of applause. Students of Nursery and Kindergarten classes danced on patriotic songs and won the hearts of all present.

The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the management and congratulated the children on their brilliant performances. He laid importance on imparting the right kind of education and nurturing the children at this age so that they become model citizens. The day ended as the chief guest awarded certificates to the children and distributed sweets.
