Youth Fest Concludes with Dry Cooking, Rangoli & Quiz Competition — St Thomas School

StThomas.14.8.15insideThe youth fest concluded with great enthusiasm and festivities as St Thomasians showcase their culinary, artistic as well mental skills. The morning began as the students participated in the dry cooking inter-house competition, and created quite a few delectable’s. The dry ingredients were brought from home and students were asked to prepare a delicious food item in an hours’ time. The winners of the dry cooking competition were : 1st Kasturi House; 2nd Shipkila; 3rd Toshqui; 4th Chinar.

StThomas.14.8.15inside1At the same time students demonstrated their creative imagination and colourful skills as they made very pretty rangoli designs. The students enthusiastically shared their experiences and thoughts behind creating their designs. Rishab, Shruti, Mehak and Riya, all from Chinar House, had made a bright coloured peacock, while students, namely Shranav, Rahul, Mekah and Aanchal with helpers Nainika and Shivani, from Shipkila too had made a peacock. Kushi Atwal, Gunjan Verma, Aryan and Pranav drew a very pretty flower, and Kushboo, Kushi Gupta, Vishakha and Abhay from Kasturi House too had prepared a very interesting display with rangoli colours. The winners of this competition were – 1st Chinar and Kasturi; 2nd Shipkila and Toshqui.

The third event of the day was a brain teasing competition to check the mental level of the students. The INTACH Heritage Quiz was organized for the students to judge their awareness about Shimla city in general and the environment in particular. The students performed brilliantly and quite a few children won chocolates from the audience too as they gave correct answers. The final standings of the competition were: 1st Kushal & Arshita from Shipkila; 2nd Hitesh Garg and Anjali Sahani from Kasturi; 3rd Sneja and Ritika from Toshqui; and Pratham and Karan from Chinar.

School Principal Vidhupriya Chakarvarty said that this three day youth fest was organized for the all round development of the students. It involved the students to be creative at all levels and not just academics. Such events help the children to become independent and also choose an activity of their liking, and it is really great to see the children perform so exceptionally well, she concluded.
