Swaran Public School, Tutikandi organised a cultural programme to celebrate Janamashtmi and Independence Day. Principal, Seema Mehta hoisted the National Flag and the celebrations commenced with the National Anthem.
Jiya gave a memorable dance performance on the song ‘Maiya Yashoda’, making the festival of Janamashtmi come live for students and the staff members. Several other dances were presented by Avrohi, Vipanshi, Vanshika and Purnima on the songs ‘Nachegi Radha’ and ‘Woh Kisna Hai’. Sonakshi, Hansika, Saksham and Arohi presented a short skit on the life of Lord Krishna.
Independence Day celebrations began with a duet presented by Anu and Diksha. Megha Jaswal and Denim enlightened the audience with their views on 200 years of British rule in India and the journey to Independence. Dance was performed on the song ‘Deshbhakti’ by Khushbu, Priyanka, Sonia, Suhani and Ruchika. ‘ Vande Mataram’ was presented by Srishti, and Riya and Muskan enthralled the gathering with their performance on ‘Chak De India’.
Role play was done by the students of classes eight, nine and ten – Vikas, Muskan, Vishu, Lalit and Akshit who brought to life the characters of Bhagat Singh, Nehru, Rani Laxmibai, Razia Sultan, Rajguru, Azad, Indira Gandhi, Tantya Tope and Nana Sahib.
Slogans that had reverberated in the country during the struggle for Independence and that were immortalised by several leaders were recreated by the students of class five – Krishnash, Megha and Neeraj.
Poems reflecting love for the country and telling the saga of India’s freedom struggle were recited by Niharika, Mayank, Ekta, Ayush and Priyanka of Class I. Sanskriti, Akshita, Dipika and Esha of Class III gave beautiful rendition of patriotic songs while the students of Class IV presented a short skit on Janamashtmi.
The programme concluded with good wishes from the Principal and the staff.
