ACS Inaugurates Learning & Development Programme

Additional Chief Secretary, Excise & Taxation Jagdish Chander Sharma inaugurated the training programme on developing the in-house analytical and data driven intelligence-based capabilities under GST wing here today.

This five-days training programme has been planned for field officers across the levels. The Additional Chief Secretary said that this training was being conducted to cope up with bulk data challenges and understand the finer points involved under GST. The officers dealing with GST would now be required to deal with lot of data and legal provisions as well. He said that with this training, it was expected that the field officers would be better able to prioritise their work to make optimum utilisation of available resources.

He said that with emphasis on service sector, there would be learning’s across different tools and techniques for data analysis so as to better respond challenges of services under GST for conducting enforcement or audit. He advised on the need for such trainings for senior officials also so that they were equipped to supervise the field functionaries more effectively.

Jagdish Chander Sharma directed the tax officers to concentrate on regular learning’s considering the dynamic nature of GST. He informed the participants about different initiatives of the government and reforms planned for the department.

Commissioner of Excise & Taxation, Rohan Chand Thakur informed about benefits of specialised trainings and potential expectations in future. He specified that the objective of this training programme was to equip officers by giving specialised trainings so that they could become master trainers and asset for department.

He appreciated the efforts of organising team led by Additional Commissioners of GST & Audit Rakesh Sharma and RD Janartha to organise this training programme.
