CM Sukhu Inaugurates Infrastructure Projects And Highlights Education Reforms In Hamirpur

In Hamirpur, amidst heavy rainfall, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the Rs. 94 lakh Canteen Block at Government College Hamirpur and the new academic block at Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) Hamirpur, constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation stones for the Rs. 2.01 crore Revenue staff residential colony in Hamirpur and the Rs. 5.27 crore link road from Bhagot to Phaphan in Gram Panchayat Ukhali.

During the event, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to bring radical changes to the education system. He announced the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day-Boarding Schools in each assembly constituency, starting with Sujanpur, Bhoranj, and Badsar assembly constituencies in Hamirpur district.

These schools will provide modern facilities, including smart classes and sports amenities, aiming to enhance the quality of education. The government is also considering the establishment of model colleges in the state to further improve educational opportunities.

To enhance convenience for students, the Chief Minister announced the reinstatement of the annual assessment system for 10th and 12th-grade students. Moreover, the government is introducing new technical courses in technical educational institutions to create better employment opportunities, including courses in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted the state government’s support for orphans by adopting them as ‘Children of the State.’ The government will cover their educational expenses, provide them with exposure visits, and offer a monthly pocket money of Rs. 4,000. Meritorious students will also be eligible for education loans up to Rs. 20 lakh at a nominal interest rate of one percent. The Chief Minister ensured timely payment of the first installment of admission fees by allocating funds to the concerned Deputy Commissioners.

In addition, Rs. 2 crore has been allocated for the implementation of smart classrooms in Government College Hamirpur, demonstrating the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and providing better opportunities for students in the state.
