Comparing an author to a junkyard, Rajkumar Rakesh shared that authors are full of words, but using them in the right context is their creative art.
A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only once,” – the words with which Anmol Chauhan, a second-year student of BA LLB University Institute of Legal Studies, opened her conversation with renowned writer Rajkumar Rakesh here today at Brews & Books Café, Shimla, during another episode of व्यक्तित्व – बातचीत का कारवां.
Talking about his life, Rakesh shared how he began his journey as a writer. He was pushed into medical stream, which he never liked and then dabbled in teaching but finally found his passion as a writer. For him, words and ideas can just randomly seep in his daily routine and he is always armed with his pen and a notebook. He even shared his cryptic style of writing, noting down random thoughts, something he read or heard, or some ideas, which later take shape into interesting stories. He also shared that a writer should never be satisfied with his/her work and a feeling of doubt should always linger on. The hunger to write will only make a writer good and prompt him/her to continue writing.
Ending on a thoughtful note Rakesh shared that writers will bring about an intellectual change and hopes that their words will make a difference. He even encouraged children to read and that they should often share their work for review and learning.
