A workshop for teachers was conducted at Blue Bells Shoghi on May 24, 2024. The teachers along with the principal, Kiran, actively participated in the three hour long session, titled Happy Classrooms.

The session was conducted by Kalpana Sharma, former principal of BSN Shimla, currently working with Krishnamurti Foundation India, Varanasi. She is a special educator. These sessions are being offered to schools, free of cost as a tribute to Late Usha Sharma, an eminent Educator from Shimla who happens to be the founder of BSN School, Shimla.

The session focused on the importance of a teacher’s well-being in today’s era as she is the change maker. Several activities related to mindfulness were shared which focused on how teachers can take charge of their social emotional learning and stay positive. It is important for teachers to be equipped with the challenges of 21st Century – learning skills which is active learning in classrooms. “In today’s world the children learn in a joyous way, without pressure and are able to develop all the skills needed. The stress is on holistic learning and not rote learning. They are prepared to apply the skills learnt in life which promotes competency based learning,” Kalpana said. Active learning was discussed at length and teachers were oriented with strategies to take it forward in their classes.
