Auckland House School for Boys proudly celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on August 15th, 2024. The celebration began at 8:30 a.m. with the flag unfurling ceremony on the school ground, led by the Principal, Reuben T. John, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem by the students and staff, creating an atmosphere of pride and unity. The programme then continued in the school auditorium, where a series of performances and speeches highlighted the significance of the day.
The event began with the singing of the hymn “Land of Our Birth,” invoking a sense of gratitude and reverence for the nation. This was followed by a scripture reading from Glatians Chapter 5:Verses1 and13-15, the reading reminds that people have been called to live in freedom but they should not use it to satisfy their sinful nature, instead they should use their freedom to serve one another in love.
The Principal’s message highlighted the enduring relevance of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s words, emphasizing India’s ongoing journey to fulfill its promises of freedom and justice. He urged the students to work diligently towards realizing the dreams of a nation where every tear is wiped away and where freedom is not just a moment in history, but a continuous effort to create a better world for all and also quoted Dr. B.R Ambedkar, “I want all people to be Indians first, Indians last and nothing else but Indians.”
Head Boy, Sarvaansh Guleri, delivered a powerful speech reflecting on the importance of freedom and the responsibilities that come with it. His words resonated with the audience, inspiring them to contribute positively to the country’s future.
The school choir then performed the patriotic song “Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja,” filling the auditorium with a sense of pride and determination. A moving patriotic poem was recited by Vihaan Thakur, capturing the essence of the day.
The entertainment segment of the program featured a lively dance performance by the Lower Primary Division (LPD), a Hindi Patriotic theme play by the middle section, and a captivating dance performance by the senior section boys. The school band concluded the event with a rousing rendition of “Jai Ho,” energizing the audience.
The event concluded with a medley of patriotic songs performed by the staff, bringing the celebration to a memorable close. The Independence Day celebration at Auckland House School for Boys was a tribute to the nation’s rich heritage and a reminder of the ongoing commitment to uphold the values of freedom and unity.
