Aditya Singh Thakur, an artist, painter, sculptor and designer is based in Shimla, who completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Himachal Pradesh University, specializing in Applied Art and Commercial Art. He then pursued a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts at Kurukshetra University with a focus in the same fields. Over the past few years, he has been working as a freelance artist, participating in numerous art exhibitions and workshops, and holding several solo exhibitions as well. His work has earned him various awards and accolades.

In addition to his freelance projects, he has undertaken several commissioned artworks. Notable ones include wall paintings on Mall Road, Shimla, commissioned by the District Administration and Municipal Corporation of Shimla; large canvases at Jakhoo Temple’s escalator under the Smart City Mission, managed by the Ropeway & Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RTDC) H.P. Ltd; a cement mural at Jonang Monastery in Shimla; a fibre mural commissioned by the District Administration; and wood sculptures commissioned by private entities in Shimla.
His artistic practice extends beyond traditional boundaries, often evoking a mix of emotions and thoughts in viewers. His portfolio includes cityscapes, contemporary and abstract art, as well as Himalayan landscapes, predominantly using vibrant and bright colours. His work extends across various mediums, including watercolour, acrylic, oil painting, digital illustrations, story illustrations, graphic design and sketching.
His artworks capture the dynamic essence of Shimla, juxtaposing the structured townscape with the grandeur of the surrounding mountains. Use of bold colours and geometric forms reflect the town’s lively spirit and cultural richness. His pieces also highlight the contrast between Shimla’s colourful concrete jungle and the encroaching natural landscape, emphasizing the ongoing tension between tradition and modern development.
