North Point Academy at Singamari, Darjeeling, West Bengal, turned into a vibrant hub of creativity and learning as students showcased their exhibits, leaving visitors impressed with their knowledge and enthusiasm. The event celebrated hobbies that spark curiosity and learning, with a special focus on stamp collecting—the ‘king of hobbies’. ALPINE 2024, was organised by the Academy in collaboration with the Alpine Philatelic and Numismatic Society, a local society encouraging philately and numismatic. The participating students were all from the Academy, which has an active Philately and Numismatic Club, which thus provides them with an opportunity to participate in various district, state and national level philatelic competitions.
A Day of Learning and Creativity

Children actively participated in postcard-making activities, where they not only created beautiful cards but also learned the joy of writing letters. The hands-on experience of addressing and posting these cards added a sense of personal connection, reminding everyone of the charm of handwritten communication.
Stamps: Windows to History and Culture

Stamps, often called miniature works of art, were a highlight of the day. Through these tiny pieces of history, students explored diverse topics such as:
- Historical Events: How stamps commemorate key milestones.
- Cultural Insights: Showcasing traditions, festivals, and global diversity.
- Geography and Art: Learning about countries and their unique symbols.
- Famous Personalities: Recognizing contributions of leaders, scientists, and artists.
Encouraging the Next Generation

Students emphasized how stamp collecting can be a gateway to understanding history, culture, and global connectivity. The event encouraged children to embrace hobbies like letter writing and stamp collection, nurturing patience, focus, and creativity in a fast-paced digital world.
A Satisfying Day for All
For visitors, the event was a walk down memory lane, rekindling the charm of hobbies like philately. For the organizers, it was a fulfilling day, sparking interest among children and adults alike to explore stamps as more than collectibles—a medium of storytelling and education.
Alpine students celebrated the joy of learning through hobbies, inspiring everyone to cherish the timeless art of letter writing and the stories hidden in stamps.
My sincere appreciation to you, who organized a program for the children on Philately.
