St. Edward’s School Marks 100 Years of Excellence in Education and Leadership

St. Edward’s School (Shimla)—a beacon of academic excellence, discipline & character—proudly celebrated its centenary, marking 100 years of shaping young minds with unwavering commitment to leadership, social service, and moral values. Founded on March 9, 1925, the institution has stood as a pillar of integrity and learning for a century. To commemorate this historic milestone, a grand Investiture Ceremony held, graced by Justice Sanjay Karol, Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest. Adding further prestige to the occasion, His Lordship, Reverend Bishop Ignatius Mascarenhas, attended as the Guest of Honour.

Justice Sanjay Karol, an esteemed alumnus of St. Edward’s School, embodies the discipline and ethical values instilled by the institution. The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the school flag by the Chief Guest, followed by a stirring rendition of the School Anthem, fostering a profound sense of unity and pride among students, faculty, and alumni.

A meticulously synchronised march-past parade, showcased precision, discipline and enthusiasm. Distinguished alumni also joined the parade, reliving cherished memories, adding a nostalgic touch to the event. As part of the Centenary Celebrations, the newly elected Student Cabinet are formally inducted. The leadership team includes:

School Captain: Ayaan Singh Bisht; Vice Captain: Stavya Pandit; Sports Captain: Aashman Vyas; Sports Vice Captain: Neerav Nagu; School Reporter: Manan Kapoor; Editor: Shivansh Taneja. Additionally, House Captains and Vice Captains are also sworn into their roles. The oath-taking ceremony conducted by the School Principal, Rev. Fr. Anil Sequeira, followed by the presentation of sashes by Justice Sanjay Karol and Bishop Ignatius Mascarenhas.

To immortalise this momentous occasion, a Special Commemorative Postal Cover officially released at the Shimla Postal Division (Labour Bureau Building) by the Senior Superintendent of Post. The school also unveiled a special advertorial which was circulated across Himachal Pradesh, marking this extraordinary milestone. The event concluded on a high note as the newly elected School Captain, Ayaan Singh Bisht, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty, and school fraternity. The field ceremony culminated with the resounding echoes of the National Anthem

This centenary celebration was more than just a reflection on a glorious past—it heralded a new chapter in the school’s journey. As St. Edward’s School strides into the future, it continues to illuminate the path of knowledge, discipline and service, for generations to come. The day could not have had a more befitting conclusion than the solemn observance of Holy Mass for Lent. This spiritual gathering allowed the Edwardian community to reflect on their faith, express gratitude, and seek divine guidance for the journey ahead. The centenary celebration, infused with both reverence and jubilation, was a true testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to holistic development.
