Sunday morning was full of enthusiasm and passion as the tiny tots of Regal Public School participated in their annul Fancy Dress Competition, held at Kalibari Hall, Shimla. It was an occasion to remember and a day to cherish. Around 90 students participated in this show with colourful costumes and different characters. They took the audience into the land of fantasy and kept everybody enthralled for almost two hours. The function officially commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Principal Manmohan Khanna.
Competitions such as Fancy Dress are not only restricted to the students but also extend to the parents, and the effort made and interest taken by the parents was evident in the costumes of the children. Various themes were carefully selected by parents for their lovely kids. Children came dressed in their vibrant costumes for each theme and spoke a few sentences on the character they depicted. The amazing number of participants and the hard work of the parents behind each child were highly praiseworthy.
The enthusiasm and zeal with which the children participated and performed was extremely commendable. The children were not only dressed up but also gave out important messages such as ‘Save water for future’, which was recited by a little girl Alvina of nursery class.
Karan of nursery class came dressed up as ‘popcorn’ and Harjas Deep came as ‘Maggi’ making all the tiny tots mouth water. Bravery of soldiers was portrayed by Trisha Sood with her musical song ‘Nanha munna rahi hoon’. Influence of Bollywood was clearly seen on the little ones as Vania Pal came dressed as Deepika Padukone and acted on one of her popular dialogues, ‘ek chukti sindoor ki kimat tum kya jaano ramesh babu’.
Mother of Aaradhya Gupta said, “My daughter is dressed up as a ‘heart’ giving the message that you should ‘keep your heart healthy’. This is the first time ever she will be going on stage”. Mrs Pal, mother Vania Pal said, “It was completely her decision to dress up as Deepika Padukone as she is a huge fan. The dialogue is also her selection, everyday she used to run around in the house saying her dialogues. She was very excited about today’s competition”.
Mother of Riya Singh who gave the message of ‘stop child labour’ said, “ Role playing is one of the vital tools of learning particularly at the pre-primary and primary level. One role play activity which children have always enjoyed is when they get an opportunity to dress up in colourful and fun costumes”.
The program came to an end with an encouraging speech by the Principal Khanna who said, “The purpose of conducting the competition was not only to blend learning with fun but also to develop confidence in the little ones by giving them an opportunity to get on the stage and speak in front of an audience. Along with academics our school also arranges a beehive of activity for its students and encourages them to take part in different co-curricular activities to give them a platform to exhibit their hidden talents. I congratulate all the students for performing beautifully, the teachers for their hard work and the parents for encouraging their children”.
The tiny tots left the parents and the teachers hypnotised and spellbound with their sweet gestures, attire, attitude and the show was a resounding success.
