The People’s Film Festival, Shimla kicked off today with a screening of Satyajit Ray’s classic, Mahanagar. Following the film, a thought-provoking discussion explored the condition of women in society, the portrayal of rapid social change in India, and the influence of capitalism on our values.
The discussion delved into the technical brilliance of Ray’s filmmaking, while highlighting the importance of unity between men and women in overcoming exploitation.
The People’s Film Festival, organized by Himachal Cinephiles, is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of cinema. The committee has invited everyone to join for the second day, starting tomorrow at 11 AM onwards.
