Sports Day is a significant event in the life of every school going child and sports itself has a vital role in making a child physically as well as mentally strong. The Seventh Annual Sports Day of Auckland House School for Boys (Junior Section) was held on today in school campus. Vidhupriya Chakravarty, Principal, St Thomas School, was the chief guest for the event, who was welcomed by Principal Boys School Michael A John as well as Director-Principal Sunita John. Enthusiastic parents were seen reaching the school in large numbers to encourage their own wards as well as other contestants who stood in the field with dreams in their eyes and fire in their bellies.
The sports day began with an impressive rings display by the boys of Class I and II representing unity and universality of their school. A total of fifty boys had put in hard work to present this colourful display. Rainy season may be a problem for adults but for the young ones it is a boon, as they are always happy to carry trendy and colourful umbrellas to add a different style to their personality. Holding on to this thought, next on the cards was the Umbrella display.
Then it was the time for the young Taekwondo performers to flaunt their skills. The boys performed under the guidance of their tutor, Suriender Mohan. After this began the exciting part of the event which all the parents had been waiting for, the track events . The races were kick started by tiny tots of Nursery A Class participating in a Necklace Race, in which they had to pick up their necklaces, wear them and run towards the finish line. The winners of this necklace race (group I) were as follows: 1st Kant Shak; 2nd Shashwat Thakur; 3rd Dhruv Ratan. Group II winners were 1st Raidan Gowhar; 2nd Madhur Manja; 3rd Satvik.
It was then followed by the Rings Race by the boys of Nursery B. Winners of this race were as follows: Group I — 1st Samir Janaik; 2nd Abhishek Verma; 3rd Ojus Rajja. Group 2 winners were — 1st Pranab Sharma; 2nd Saket; 3rd Shivansh Sharma.
Then came the boys of LKG A ready to hop towards the finish line. The little ones were filled with enthusiasm as the parents cheered loudly for them. Following boys were the first ones to make it to the red ribbon. Group I — 1st Kunwar Rudra Aditya; 2nd Yajat Cupuhan; 3rd Anurag Thakur. Group II winners were 1st Nikedit Dogra; 2nd Pradyuman Bhardwaj, 3rd Aarav.
Next race was one of kids’ favourite as they got to eat something they love, biscuits. The students of LKG B participated in the Biscuit Race. The medals were given out to the following students: Group I — 1st Utkarsh Mishra; 2nd Vitan; 3rd Proneet. Group II winners were 1st Aaron; 2nd Kinshek; 3rd Devansh.
Then the little boys of UKG A gathered their energy for the Ball Race. They hopped till the midline, picked up the balls and carried them on their heads proceeding towards the finish line. The winners of the race were as follows: Group I — 1st Parmeet Singh Luthra; 2nd Parshul Chauhan; 3rd Yashwardhan Singh Dogra. Group II winners were 1st Tanishqe Sharma; 2nd Nantik Tanta; 3rd Tashi Negi.
The boys of UKG B ran joyfully wearing glittery birthday caps in the Cap Race. The following reached the finish line: Group I — 1st Hardik Sharma; 2nd Peateek Verma; 3rd Aarush Sood. Group II — 1st Shashank Rajan; 2nd Ankrosh, 3rd Saizan.
The next race filled the hearts of the students of I A with excitement as they had to burst the balloons. The boys ran like a pro in this race. The winners of the Burst the Balloon Race were: Group I — 1st Rohan Sharma; 2nd Tanmay; 3rd Vansh Chauhan. Group II — 1st Thakur Rudra Pratap Singh; 2nd Sujan Kaushik; 3rd Samarth Thakur.
The boys of I B tried to take some energy from the bananas after eating them and running towards the end line. The Banana Race was won by: Group I — 1st Aadish Verma; 2nd Shrey Sharma; 3rd Tanishqe Thakur. Group II — 1st Kushvinder Verma; 2nd Praheri Himalyan; 3rd Rijul Verma.
Then came the Obstacle Race with a little twist. The boys of II A jumped over their partner and the same sequence was followed proceeding towards the finish line. The winners of this race were: Group I — 1st Keshar and Shivansh; 2nd Ankit and Samar; 3rd Armaan and Shaksham.
Then was the time for a candy break in form of a Toffee Race, in which the boys picked the toffees from their mouth without using hands and ran towards the finish line. The race was won by the following students: Group I — 1st Pranav Sharma; 2nd Harsh Thakur; 3rd Rhythm Arya. Group II — 1st Kavya Taneja, 2nd Raghav Thakur; 3rd Sanidhya Prashar.
Last but not the least came the chance to glide through Skating Race. The proud winners were: Group I (Class I) — 1st Ayush Raj; 2nd Tanmay Sharma; 3rd Moksh. Group II (Class II) — 1st Aarya Thakur; 2nd Kamya Taneja; 3rd Yashasvi Seita.

After completion of the athletic events, proud winners were honoured by the chief guest with medals. The little sports stars with shining bright faces flaunted their medals as they gained praises, appreciation as well as a thunderous applause from all present on the ground.
Chief Guest Vidhupriya Chakravarty, encouraged everyone and motivated the students not to give up but persevere for more glory in future. The event formally ended with a speech by the Principal John, who congratulated the entire faculty for their hard work, the boys for performing exceptionally well and the parents for being a massive support for their children. He ended on a note informing hat all 327 students from Nursery to Form II participated in one event or the other.
