All India Radio (Akashvani) will begin broadcasting the complete six-stanza version of the National Song “Vande Mataram” starting 26th March 2026, following guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 28th January 2026. The updated rendition will have a duration of 3 minutes and 10 seconds, replacing the long-standing two-stanza version of around 65 seconds traditionally played during morning broadcasts.

The first full version to be aired is rendered by renowned Hindi classical vocalist Pt. Chandrashekhar Vaze in Raag Des. In addition, Akashvani is recording several regional versions incorporating local musical instruments to showcase India’s rich musical diversity. These versions will be played on stations across their respective states.

This move marks a significant step in preserving and promoting the full heritage of India’s National Song while embracing regional cultural nuances.
