The state government has amended the Resident Doctors Policy-2025 to enable the direct appointment of eligible postgraduate doctors from premier national institutes, including PGI Chandigarh and AIIMS New Delhi. These appointments will fill vacant Senior Resident and Tutor Specialist positions across medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh.
According to an official notification issued by the Department of Medical Education, a new provision has been incorporated to recruit qualified doctors from these institutions under the 33.33 percent direct quota. Selections will be determined strictly by academic merit in MBBS and postgraduate examinations, bypassing the requirement for written tests or interviews.
A health department spokesperson noted that this policy shift aims to streamline the recruitment of top medical talent and enhance the delivery of specialized healthcare services throughout the state. The initiative aligns with the government’s broader objective to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand medical education opportunities across Himachal Pradesh.
