You win some you lose some, but you don’t get disheartened, rather you strive again treading on the same path. Winning medals during sports day is a great achievement for any child, which becomes a very prized and a cherished item for years to come. The Auckland Girls Middle Section Sports Day saw some exciting moments amidst loud cheers, clapping and support as the chief guest for the occasion was Kusum Thakur who served in Auckland House School for 33 years, who taught and groomed countless children during her Tenure. Director Principal Sunita John and Michael A John, Principal Boys’ School were also present for the event.
Students of Form III – VI participated enthusiastically in all the sports activities. They exhibited their sporting ability on the play field through various drills, races, gymnastics, skating, karate and other sports activities. The event began with the House March Past followed by a drill with laziums as they exhibited their coordination skills enthusiastically. The students of Form III performed various asans like Surya Namaskar, Vriksha asana, etc., while students of Form- V performed a vibrant display with colourful scarves displaying beautiful formations. As all competitions go, we always have to have a winner and this year Lefroy House emerged victorious followed by Matthew, French and Durrant. The Marching Cup was shared by Lefroy, Matthew and French Houses respectively, while the Proficiency Cup was shared between French and Durrant House. The winners of the Sports Shield were Lefroy House who proved themselves as champions of the Middle School Sports Day.
Looking forward to the next year, and proving their mettle this year, the Auckyites were a proud lot and the event was a grand success.
