Shimla Nursing College, Shurala, celebrated its 13th Annual Day successfully at Shimla Nursing College Multi-Purpose Hall on August 30, 2024. The annual day was organized to celebrate annual academic excellence and students’ competency in various disciplines. Shimla Nursing College has over the period of last 14 years established itself as the most prominent nursing college of Himachal Pradesh.
The theme of the annual function was PRERNA…… EMPOWERING LIVES. The chief guest for the function was Dr. Sanjay Sood (IFS) Additional Principal Chief Conservator H.P. and the function was presided over by the guest of honor Dr. Sarita Thakur (Registrar -HPNRC Shimla), and other dignitaries including Vidya Nursing Superintendent KNH Shimla, Mahindra Nursing Superintendent KNH Shimla and Ramesh Chand Sood (Chairman). Mohit Sood (Managing Director), Veena Sood (Trustee member, SNC), Dr. Neha Sood (Trustee member, SNC), Dr. Kimi Sood (Secretary) Shimla Nursing College, Dr. Krishna Chauhan (Principal, Shimla Nursing College), faculty members, students and their parents were also a part of the celebration.
The program commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony by Ramesh Chand Sood and Chief Guest Dr. Sanjay Sood, along with other dignitaries which was followed by Ganesh Vandana. Welcome Speech and Annual Report reading was done by Principal Dr. Krishna Chauhan SNC. The students lit up the atmosphere by the electrical mix of cultural shows in store. The flow of events from there on was as follows: Bollywood Dance by B.Sc. 6th semester, Kullvi Dance by GNM 3rd Year, Retro Dance by B.Sc. 4th semester, Horror Dance by GNM 1st Year, Bhangra by B.Sc. 4th Year, Classical Dance by GNM 1st Year, Mime and Nati by B.Sc. 4th Year leaving the audience spellbound.
The Managing Director of Shimla Nursing College Mohit Sood not only honored the chief guest and the guest of honour but also spoke about his vision to take Shimla Nursing College to high levels of education. He also said that he expects the students to make a powerful impact not only in nursing profession but also in society. He also requested the government of Himachal Pradesh to extend more support towards creating more health facilities in the state and thanked the government for the support that they have provided in the past. Last but not the least most inspirational words were spoken by Chief Guest Dr. Sanjay Sood. He added up his thoughts about nursing profession to not only compliment the health care systems but without the synergy of doctors and nurses it’s not possible to make a better change in the health care system.
The chief guest congratulated the management and students of Shimla Nursing College for showing exemplary hard work and commitment towards academic excellence. The chief guest Dr. Sanjay Sood, guest of honor along with other guests awarded academic prizes to the Toppers of HPU University, AMRU and HPNRC for the current session. The program was ended with vote of thanks and National Anthem.
