Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap chaired a meeting organized in his office here today in connection with the National Immunization Day, Polio, which is being celebrated on March 03, 2024 (Sunday). In his address, he said that Pulse Polio drops are given to children aged between 0 to 5 years so that immunity can be developed and building a healthy nation can be possible.

The Deputy Commissioner said that under this campaign, the Health Department will organize a publicity campaign for the sensitive sections so that under this campaign, polio drops can be administered to 52 thousand targeted children in the district. Apart from this, polio drops will be administered to 10 thousand children of the temporary population.

Anupam Kashyap said that 710 polio booths will be established in Shimla district and 33 polio booths will be established in Shimla urban area and transit polio booths will be established at the old bus stand, new ISBT, railway station, Lakkar Bazar bus stand and Shoghi police barrier.

He said that Health, Ayurveda, Women and Child Development, Police and Transport departments will play an active role in this vaccination campaign and directed these departments to establish better coordination so that the problem of overlapping does not arise in this campaign.

Apart from this, he appealed to the city’s IGMC Nursing College and private nursing colleges for cooperation in the polio campaign. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Surekha Chapra conducted the meeting and informed the Deputy Commissioner about the activities of polio campaign. In the meeting, Dr. of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Munish Sood, Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar, officials of Women and Child Development Department, representatives and employees of Nursing College were present.
