Armed Forces Flag Day was observed with solemnity and respect at Raj Bhavan today. Director of the Sainik Welfare Department, Brigadier Madan Sheel Sharma, along with Lieutenant Commander Atul Chambial, Deputy Director of Sainik Welfare for Shimla and Kinnaur districts, pinned the Armed Forces Flag on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. Marking the occasion, the Governor extended his greetings and contributed to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund as a gesture of solidarity with India’s defence personnel.

Armed Forces Flag Day is being observed across the country on December 7, 2025. Considering the unique hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh, the campaign in the state will run from December 1 to December 31, ensuring that even residents of remote regions can participate in honouring the armed forces.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla emphasized that the courageous soldiers of Himachal Pradesh have brought immense pride to the Armed Forces. He highlighted the importance of contributing generously to this noble cause, which supports ex-servicemen and their families. The Governor appealed to all citizens of the state to make liberal donations, noting that the funds collected are essential for providing assistance and relief to the families of those who have laid down their lives for the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
