ARTRAC Salutes Kargil Heroes on Vijay Diwas

Headquarters Army Training Command (ARTRAC) commemorated the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas with deep respect and honour, remembering the extraordinary courage, sacrifice and dedication of the heroes of Operation Vijay.

The ceremony was held at the Shradhanjali Sthal in Annandale, where Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief ARTRAC, laid a wreath on behalf of all ranks in tribute to the fallen soldiers. A two-minute silence was observed, accompanied by the solemn notes of the ‘Last Post’ played by the buglers.

Paying homage to the Kargil heroes, the Army Commander recalled their unmatched bravery, determination and commitment displayed under the most challenging conditions on the icy heights of Kargil. He said that the legacy of the brave soldiers continues to inspire the nation and strengthens the Indian Army’s resolve to protect the country’s unity, integrity and sovereignty.

As part of the commemorative events, the Army Commander also visited the Army Heritage Museum at Annandale. The museum showcases India’s rich military history, preserving valuable artefacts, battle memorabilia and records that highlight the courage and sacrifices of soldiers across generations.

The Army Commander appreciated the efforts of the museum in preserving the nation’s military heritage and ensuring that the stories of valour, patriotism and service continue to inspire future generations.

The commemoration concluded with all ranks of Headquarters ARTRAC taking a pledge to uphold the values of courage, patriotism and selfless service, while ensuring that the supreme sacrifices of the Kargil heroes remain forever etched in the nation’s memory.
