CM Sukhu has assured primary teachers that the government will take a final decision on the New Complex System before Teachers’ Day. He said the matter would be reviewed sympathetically to determine whether the system requires improvements or should be withdrawn.
Addressing the General Body meeting of the Primary Teachers’ Association at Chaura Maidan in Shimla, the Chief Minister said that a fair decision would be taken after detailed discussions with the association during the upcoming meeting between the government and teachers’ representatives.
The Chief Minister announced the withdrawal of suspensions, departmental inquiries and FIRs registered against primary teachers. He also assured that the powers and responsibilities of Head Teachers, Centre Head Teachers and Block Elementary Education Officers (BEOs) would remain unaffected. He further announced that sports activities in primary schools would be resumed.
He said that JBT teachers would be promoted to TGT posts and added that the demands raised by the Primary Teachers’ Association had already been discussed in detail during a meeting with its representatives at the Secretariat.
Reiterating the government’s commitment towards teachers, the Chief Minister said that their interests would be protected and that several reforms were being introduced in the education sector. He expressed confidence that with teachers’ cooperation, primary schools in the state could be transformed into centres of quality education.
Highlighting recent initiatives, he said that English-medium education had been introduced at the primary level and appreciated the contribution of teachers in implementing the reform. He also informed that the appointment process of principals in CBSE schools was nearing completion and teacher recruitment was underway.
The Chief Minister also recalled that the state government restored the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for 1.36 lakh employees in its first Cabinet meeting. He said the decision was aimed at ensuring the dignity and financial security of employees and retirees. He added that many employees under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) were receiving very low pensions, affecting their economic stability.
He further stated that the state government was working to protect Himachal Pradesh’s rights and resources and appealed for collective efforts to safeguard the interests of the state.
